A bouquet in black; L323 outfits

Onepiece dresses are so convenient. You don't need to layer them with anything, but you can, which gives them all the options of a JSK with none of the limitations. Admittedly, you can't always layer OPs successfully but I like to think that in the outfits below I did!

The onepiece in question here is Bodyline's L323 (sans satin ribbons and wa-lolita sleeves) which is one of my favourite dresses, though I don't wear it much. It's a bit elegant, but still comfortable and no too fussy.

This first outfit turned out to be virtually identical to an outfit I came up with when I first did an outfit post with this dress. The only differences are legwear and headwear. What can I say, it's just a great combination!

I always wanted to try something less obvious, colour-wise, and introduce ivory as well. I do like how this turned out but I don't think it's quite there...and I can't tell why! If you have any ideas about what specific elements of this aren't working, I'd appreciate if you let me know in the comments, because it's kind of bugging me, lol.

And of course, I can't use a black main piece and not run with black complementary pieces. I know we lost a lot of detail in this photo...shooting black inside is not my friend! It's the simplest outfit of the lot, but still a nice one, I think.

  1. I feel like the cream blouse under the OP makes it look like Innocent World's 2007-ish style. I really love how those pieces work together, maybe it's that the printed socks are too modern? I'd love to see it worn with some lace-topped socks to really bring out the old-school feeling.

    1. You make a good point, I tend to forget that floral prints were a thing in old school so I didn't even think of that.

  2. Yeah, I just came to the same conclusion as well, that the middle outfit feels like a bit too much of a mix between oldschool and modern Lolita styles and that's what feels a bit off. It's a matter of either change the blouse (maybe for something like a peignoir on top?) or change the socks and the shoes for more oldschool appropriate ones (and potentially replace the flowers with a rectangle headdress for 100% oldschool). Although I have to say, I do like those boots with that dress, it gives off a very elegant vibe, so maybe a high collar blouse instead could do to up the Victorian-esque factor?

    1. Thanks for the suggestions! I actually love the idea of coording this in a bit of a Victorian style...

    2. I hope to. I don't know how I'll go with work commitments though.

    3. I understand that! If it weren't for scheduled posting I'd basically never blog, lol.

  4. I think a black headdress balance the dress best out. I think the middle coord could go for some of Mary Magdalenes One Pieces, solid and florals together.
