Recent lolita YouTube videos

Ahem... So yeah, I've made videos about a few lolita things that I have not blogged about so I figured it was high time I shared them here! In no particular order:

I shared a gift giving guide for anyone unsure of how to give a lolita fashion enthusiast a lolita gift. I think I did a good, thorough job if I say so myself. This was a Lolita Fashion YouTubers collab, so click through more videos on the theme of "gifts".

Another LFY collab was this topic - what is uniquely you about your lolita style? I found this a challenge to actually define and therefore an absolutely worthwhile video to make!

Most recently I shared a quick upcycling/DIY video showing how I turned a thrifted shirt into a cute lolita cutsew. It was fun and as I mentioned in my last post, I have a LOT of sewing and DIY plans for my lolita wardrobe.

If you like watching as well as reading lolita content, I hope you enjoy my videos ^__^

Recent lolita YouTube videos (and a blogging update)

Dear readers, it is time for me to admit something - I think that I am, by and large, giving up on blogging regularly.

Don't get me wrong, this blog is not stopping entirely but I've realised that after a decade of doing it I'm just not too into writing blog posts any more. On the other hand, I am absolutely LOVING making YouTube videos.

Do I feel bad about this, given that my preferred mode of content consumption is reading over watching? Yes.

Is that going to change what I do? No.

So I wanted to a. let you know that and b. share some of my recent lolita-based youTube videos that I haven't shared here yet ^__^

I made a cutsew! In my last post you saw it worn a couple of times and here's the making-of. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out and definitely feel more confident about sewing with knits in the future.

I bought things! If you've been a reader for a while you know I've always wanted a BTSSB fawn fur beret...and now I've got one! Very excited about that ^__^

Lastly, I enjoy sometimes documenting the how and why of putting together a coordinate, and for this one the starting point was a pretty scarf.

Like I said, I'm not stopping blogging entirely. I will certainly continue, if nothing else, to document my worn coords here. Beyond that...I'm not sure. But I'll see you all around, just less frequently, and I hope you'll join me over on YouTube

A decade (and two months) as a lolita

Recently, I realised that I've been a lolita for just over ten years! That realisation kind of blew my mind and I thought it'd make for an interesting YouTube video, so here it is!

I absolutely do not ahve the spoons to actually do a write up about this, so if you're interested in finding out about ym loltia journey please give it a watch.

Alternatively, everything I talk about there has been documented on this blog so if you feel like reading 10 years of posts that are mostly, but not entirely, about lolita well...good luck lol.

Floral headdress tutorial video

I promise I'm not dead, I just haven't felt like blogging.

But I have been keeping up with YouTube, and even though my channel is not just about lolita, I thought this particular video was absolutely worth sharing here ^__^

If you enjoyed the video please give it a like, and let me know if you actually try following this tutorial. it's actually my first tutorial so I'd be curious to know if it was informative enough to use as a reference.

Get necklace, make coord

Earlier this year an online friend sent me a necklace that she made for me, and it is absolutely stunning! It's really beautiful and wonderfully made and of course, my first impulse was to start building outfits around it. It took me a very long time to actually do it, but I finally put together a flatlay worthy of this gorgeous piece.

I ran with my wedding dress as the main piece and pulled together a pretty floral look, which I absolutely adore. I can't wait to wear this sometime!

And, because it's super gorgeous, please admire this close-up of the necklace itself.

I also tried to take a close-up of the necklace in situ but my camera decided to focus on the brooch apparently...oh well, it's still a pretty photo, just a tad blurry!

I'm so happy to have finally done this necklace justice! I also decided to use putting this flatlay together as an opportunity to film a little YouTube video about how I build a coordinate, so please check that out below if you're interested.

Wardrobe Highlights Video

As I mentioned in my wardrobe post I also filmed some video this year, and have posted a highlights video on my YouTube channel. Click the thumbnail below to check it out!

It was really fun to film my wardrobe, even if it like...doubled the time the whole thing took and then I only used like a third of the footage. Oh well! Still fun and I'm really happy to be able to share this video as well as all the pictures.

PS If you want to see my cats watch to the end of the video!

Christmas Coordinates Without Christmas Prints

Festive season is upon us! In celebration of that, I took part in my first Lolita Fashion YouTubers collaboration playlist and you can view my Christmas coordinate lookbook here and the entire playlist here.

But, being me, I wanted to ramble on about my choices (and more) so here we are - exploring how to dress festively in lolita if you don’t own a blatantly Christmas print.

Festive Colours

This is the easiest - wear some red and green! Doesn’t matter if they’re Christmas themed in pattern, or even the ‘correct’ shades, it still gets the gist across. Other obviously Christmas combos are red and white or blue and white, especially if you can get yourself looking a little frosty.

Red and white is so Christmas-y, and leads me right to my next suggestion...

Tartan

Tartan fabrics just read festive to me, especially in red or green. And luckily, red tartan is quite a common fabric in lolita, so it’s easy to come by and while it works very well for the season, it’s not limited to it.

Christmas Character Motifs

Another way to get into the spirit of things if your wardrobe doesn’t lend itself to Christmas colours or warm tartans, is to add allusions to festive figures in your outfit. This can be done overtly - like my use of fawn fur to bring reindeers to mind - or more subtly. Some Christmas character ideas that I can see working well in lolita without having a restricted colour palette are toy soldiers, sugarplum fairies, reindeer (of course) and ice queens

Any excuse to pull out the fawn fur!

Other Christmas Motifs

This is similar to the previous suggestion, but instead of adding character flair to your outfit instead make references to Christmas-y things. Some ideas here are gifts, candles, fireplaces, snow, swans...or blazing hot sun if you’re an Aussie like me!

Craft Accessories

Another option is to craft some easy, seasonally themed accessories. I’m having thoughts of bauble headbands and holly brooches, but there’s lots you could do with a brooch blank or a headband, some hot glue, and some Christmas bits and pieces from a dollar store. Or you could buy something! But if you’re anything like me, why buy something you use once a year when you can just make something ridiculous instead?

There are doubtless many, many more ideas than I’ve listed here of how to be festive without wearing a holiday print but I hope these ideas spark some coord ideas in you.

The 10 Day Lolita Challenge - A YouTube Series

A very brief post today to let you know that today I posted the first video of a new series, The 10 Day Lolita Challenge by Lolita Wonderland, to my YouTube

Click on the image above to go direct to the video! As is totally spoiled by said image, this first video is just me, talking for ages about how much I love Meta and why ^__^

So far I'm really loving using YouTube, and I'm uploading every Friday at the moment. It's not all going to be lolita, but for at least nine more videos in the future it definitely will be so I would really appreciate it if you subscribed!

I'm on YouTube!

I mentioned a secret project in my first half of October outfits post, and yes, this was it...I've started a YouTube channel! It's something I've been thinking about for half a year or more and I finally decided to just do it! My first video, which is just a brief channel introduction, can be viewed by clicking the image below.

As I say in the video, at the moment my intentions are that the channel will probably be mostly focused on lolita, cosplay, and BTS on photoshoots. However, I'm into a lot of different stuff and I don't plan to limit myself or my content, so who knows what I'll end up with!

I'm 100% open to suggestions of what you'd like to see on my YouTube. I do have a list of ideas going but I'm always up for more ideas...my list will run dry eventually.

Also, here's a tiny preview of the second video I'll be uploading shortly!

I really hope you will like my YouTube content, and consider subscribing, sharing, and all that jazz. As I said, please drop any suggestions in the comments here and also feel free to drop links to your favourite YouTubers as well ^__^

I'm really excited to be embarking on a new creative venture and I've been having a lot of fun so far!
